About
Annette has been working in the animal care industry for over 15 years, mainly as a qualified veterinary nurse but also as an animal attendant at one of Perth's largest dog rescue organisations, The Dogs Refuge Home. During her time there, she learnt a lot about canine behaviour and how a dog's environment can cause significant stress and behaviour problems, as well as the staggering amount of dogs that get surrendered for behavioural problems. Working alongside experienced dog trainers and veterinary behaviourists, Annette learnt about what can be done to help these dogs that were in need of loving homes.
While working at a veterinary hospital in Perth back in 2008 & 2009, she also ran successful puppy classes. These helped to confirm her desire to become a qualified dog trainer & behaviourist. The seed had been sown.
After moving to Donnybrook in the beautiful South West of WA, she met local dog trainer & behaviourist Becky after enrolling her older dog, Toots, in her training classes. A friendship was struck and a few years later, Becky took Annette under her wing and allowed her to help with instructing training classes and eventually being able to run the classes on her own.
Annette gained her long held dream of becoming a certified dog trainer in 2023 by completing the Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour & Dog Training.
Annette currently has 3 dogs - Toots the American Staffordshire Terrier X who is a companion dog & was born at The Dogs Home over 10 years ago, Spud the Kelpie X who is her partner in agility & obedience competitions, and Rogue the Rottweiler who is the baby and is her next sport & competition dog.
