So who is ALT K9 Training?
ALT K9 Training is owned and operated by Annette.
Annette has worked in the animal care industry for nearly 18 years, mainly as a Registered Veterinary Nurse but also working with and training dogs and running puppy classes.
It was when she worked at one of Perth's largest dog shelters that her interest in canine behaviour was elevated and it became apparent to her that more needed to be done for pet dogs to keep them from being surrendered for behavioural problems to pounds and shelters.
So she started her journey to learn as much as possible about dog training while working in vet clinics, to help clients and their dogs. She was very lucky to be able to shadow and assist a local dog trainer in Donnybrook, who taught her about running classes and encouraged her with her own dog, Spud, to start competing in agility and obedience trials.
After a couple of years, it was time to get qualified so Annette enrolled into the AVT & IMDT training and behaviour course and in 2023 gained her Cert IV in Animal Behaviour & Training. She continues to learn and educate herself so she can always provide the most up to date methods of training and behaviour modification techniques. She also still works in a vet clinic as a vet nurse.
Annette currently has 3 dogs - Toots, an American Staffy X who's the senior girl - Spud, a Kelpie Border Collie ACD mix that has gained titles in agility and obedience - Rogue, a Rottweiler who's her next up and coming competition dog.
